This is an immersive guided experience that invites audiences to explore the rich visual culture and creative expression embedded throughout the streets of Braddon. Presented by the Braddon Collective, the tour offers a unique opportunity to encounter Canberra’s most distinctive murals up close and to discover the stories, artists and ideas behind them.
Street art is one of the most accessible and immediate forms of public expression. It has long served as a platform for dissent, allowing artists to challenge assumptions, critique systems and offer alternative perspectives outside traditional gallery settings. Across Braddon, murals appear in driveways and on urban surfaces, transforming the suburb into a living gallery where bold colour and bold ideas coexist. As a curated journey through Canberra's most eclectic urban landscape, this walk encourages participants to pause, observe and reflect on how these works convey identity, humour, resistance and social commentary.
Led by a passionate local guide, the tour highlights the work of leading muralists and emerging creatives who have contributed to the shaping of Braddon’s cultural identity.
The program also showcases Canberra as a city of design. By bringing participants into direct engagement with public art and the built environment, the tour demonstrates how design influences the evolution of urban spaces. Braddon, with its constant reinvention, provides a vivid example of how design and dissent intersect to produce meaningful, memorable places.
Designed to be welcoming, informative and inclusive, the 'Braddon Mural Magic: A Walk Through Creative Corners' street art tour invites participants of all ages to appreciate the role of public art in shaping community.

The Braddon Collective is a volunteer-run community organisation focussed on enhancing the unique character of Braddon, one of Canberra’s most vibrant urban precincts. Working with local businesses, residents, and government, the Braddon Collective advocates for a people-friendly environment that preserves Braddon’s creative energy and unique identity. Its mission focuses on maintaining the area’s distinctive vibe, supporting independent businesses, and ensuring the precinct remains welcoming to all, including young families and LGBTIQ+ communities.
The Braddon Collective champions improvements to public space — such as better pedestrian and cycling access, street greening, traffic calming, and accessibility upgrades — to make Braddon liveable and walkable. The group also builds community through events including the Braddon Busking Festival, heritage and street art tours, and other initiatives celebrating the precinct’s culture and history. Through ongoing surveys and engagement, the Braddon Collective listens to the community and advocates for meaningful, sustainable urban improvements.
