Side Seam Studio invites visitors to see the studio as a working space, with sewing equipment, tools, and systems on view. Finished works, and works in progress, will be on display and available for purchase across the weekend, along with samples for custom orders.
The studio is divided into three sections: a tool shed for wood and metal work, a clean space for paper and textiles, and a laundry area for dyeing and painting. A shady, established garden may also be used to display work, and as a place to sit, chat, and enjoy refreshments.

Imogen Keen is a Canberra-based designer and artist with a multidisciplinary practice in theatre, textiles, installation and film. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Hons) from the Australian National University and has received several Canberra Critics Circle Awards and recognition from MEAA.
Since the early nineties she has designed for live performance including an extensive residency at the Street Theatre. Her production, set and costume design credits encompass theatre, contemporary dance, music videos and film projects. Alongside her design work, she maintains a studio practice exploring textiles, mixed media and handmaking with a focus on repurposing and zero-waste methods.
She is an experienced educator and mentor, teaching textile techniques, design representation and creative process at institutions including the University of Canberra and Canberra Girls Grammar School, and mentoring emerging artists for You Are Here’s Cahoots Lab. Her exhibition history includes installations, textile wares and collaborative performance-based works.
