Clubb Chess is a three day interactive exhibition featuring collaborations between contemporary creatives from multiple industries across Canberra and surrounds, centered around the centuries old game…Chess.
Clubb Chess takes tradition and turns it upside down. The exhibition is reshaping societal norms of how art can be absorbed and redefining the design, structure and experience of a centuries-old game. These works will be diverse in mediums and story as we encourage the artists to show their own individual expression of the theme of ‘dissent’ through their own perspectives covering satire, history, future and the present. The exhibition highlights collaboration between industries and artists as well as engagement with a diverse range of people. We want to create an exhibition where touch, feel and experience can be part of the artwork, the story, and the creation, opening it up to a broader audience and allowing more people into the wonderful world of art and design.
Inside the exhibition curated by Grace Blake, Jaquie Meng, Mark Brook, Shaun Hayes, Harry Townsend, Hands on Studio, Olivia Kidson, April Phillips, and Nathan Nhan have dissected, resurrected, folded, manipulated, built, broken and constructed artworks presented as games for play.
Outdoors is a place for chilling, eating, drinking, dancing, playing and creating with music curated by Trust Fm and Sonic Business, food by Tukka By the Bush and drinks by Such and Such.

Tickets include unlimited access to the exhibition over the day with the option to reserve a game session prior or wait it out amongst the fun.

Dash Rumble (b.1993) is a Canberra Restaurateur, General Manager and advocate for Canberra tourism and the arts. Naive ambition drove Dash along with her business partners Ross McQuinn and Mal Hanslow to open a suburban fine dining extension of their combined personalities aptly named Pilot in 2018. After surviving for 5 years, the desire to express themselves further got the best of them and manifested itself in the form of the fun, laid-back, wine driven Such and Such. Pilot remains the only two hat venue in Canberra, and Such and Such follows closely behind with one hat. In 2023 Such and Such received the award for Best New Restaurant, being the second time a Canberra venue has ever achieved this recognition. Dash consistently prioritises art, culture, music, tourism, and experience, a focus reflected in her sustained collaboration with people across multiple industries.

Grace Blake (b.1992) is a Canberra-based 3D multimedia artist and curator working across sculpture, installation, and experimental media. Her background as a practising artist lends an intuitive understanding of process and material that quietly underpins her curatorial approach.
Grace’s work is centred on strengthening Canberra’s arts ecology. She brings local and interstate artists into conversation, creating spaces where diverse practices can meet, experiment, and expand the city’s cultural imagination. Her curatorial projects focus on what makes a city feel alive: visible creative labour, accessible platforms for artists, and connections between cultural work and everyday life. She is an advocate for better conditions for visual artists and often builds partnerships between artists, small businesses, and community organisations to open new avenues for presentation, collaboration, and support.
