2026 marks the 60th anniversary of Decimal Currency, designed by Australian industrial designer Stuart Devlin and minted in Canberra at the Royal Australian Mint. To mark this milestone, the Royal Australian Mint presents an in-conversation with coin designer Adam Ball and brand designer Mike Jackson.

Overlooking the coin production hall, Adam and Mike will unpack the craft and process behind designing a coin, from pencil sketch to finished pieces, exploring the tools and techniques that connect Devlin’s original methods with the technologies of today. The conversation will also consider how coins produced at the Royal Australian Mint bring together design and storytelling to share Australian stories with the community, as well as the collaborative nature of the production facility and the role of design in creating processes that are both safe and sustainable.
