Koitoya and Detailed Wood will showcase examples of their work including commissioned pieces and student creations, with live demonstrations of selected hand tools. A range of woodcraft pieces will also be available for purchase.

Hiroshi Yamaguchi is a furniture designer and maker, and founder of Koitoya Design/Make/Teach. He and his team make commissioned wood craft pieces, furniture and joinery, and teach woodwork classes. His commissioned works reflect his fine craft skills in traditional woodwork interpreted through a contemporary lens.
Hiroshi was born and raised in Japan and in 1995 trained at the private woodworking school Shinrin-Takumi Juku, under Master Craftsman Osamu Shoji. After 17 years designing, creating and teaching craft and furniture making in Japan, he moved with his family to Canberra in 2012 and established Koitoya in 2015.

Ben Laffan is a designer maker of furniture in the medium of solid wood. Ben has 25 years of experience and uses his skills and knowledge to make practical objects and furniture on a commission basis for clients.
