Akie Haga has over 25 years of experience working with glass, specialising in flameworking to create glass jewellery and sculptural works. Her practice explores line, pattern and structure through an intuitive, hands-on process shaped by heat and flame, balancing precision with spontaneity.
Drawing on her Japanese heritage, Akie has developed a visual language that bridges tradition and experimentation. Since 2006, she has run an independent studio creating wearable glass pieces that invite personal expression, alongside sculptural works inspired by organic forms and nature. Her work is held in galleries and private collections and she teaches flameworking at Canberra Glassworks.
