Visitors are invited to explore the home studio of ceramic artists Cathy Franzi and Chris Harford. Cathy creates vessel forms for exhibition inspired by Australian flora, while Chris produces tableware for fine dining restaurants across Canberra. A gas reduction firing demonstration will take place on Saturday, and work will be available for purchase across the weekend. Visitors are welcomed to meet the artists, ask questions and gain an insight into their creative practices and making processes.  

  • Dr Cathy Franzi is a ceramic artist interested in ways to represent Australian flora and environmental knowledge. From her home studio she makes wheel-thrown and altered vessels in porcelain. She represents flora on the ceramic surface using textural techniques including sgraffito, incising, stencils and inlay. Her work is held in national and international public collections and in 2025 she received the Lanyon Art Prize. She is represented by Sabbia Gallery in Sydney.

  • Chris Harford is fascinated with making pottery and has explored form, surface and glaze for more than 40 years. He designs and makes tableware for high-end Canberra restaurants and is particularly known for his exquisite teapots.
